Do you take insurance?

Unfortunately, we do not take  or bill your insurance and are considered an “out of network provider." If you have a "health benefits" policy, especially a PPO, it will usually provide some mental health coverage.

If you plan to use your insurance benefits, we will provide you with a standard receipt and form (a Superbill) that can be submitted to your insurance company. Many PPO plans do provide some reimbursement for mental health provided by an out of network provider, so you may get a substantial portion of our fees back from your insurance company, depending on your specific plan.

The insurance provider will be able to provide you with the most accurate and specific information  We highly recommend you contact your insurance provider to inquire about your out-of-network benefits if insurance reimbursement is an important issue.

What is a superbill?

What are the fees? How long are the sessions?

The  sessions can last anywhere from 20 minutes to 90 minutes, depending on which provider you see and the type of treatment/therapy rendered.

Please refer to the fee schedule for more detailed information.

Fees and Services Link

Do you have a "sliding scale" or a reduced fee?

Please refer to fee and payment options or discuss with your provider whether your provide offers any reduction on a case-by-case basis.

When do you see clients?

The office hours are Monday through Friday 9AM to 5PM.  However, each provider has their own schedule which is one of the reasons walk in patients will not be seen.  If you are interested in scheduling an appointment outside of the general business hours, please discuss it with your provider.  Arrangements can be made on a case to case basis.

Who do you see? / What types of clients do you work with?

At The Healthy Mind Center we work with individuals, couples, families,  adolescents and children who are striving for a healthy mind.

Dr. Kwon utilizes medications in addition to therapy.  She treats the following patient population.

  - adults with psychiatric illness

  - adults with substance use disorders, including smoking cessation and other medication assisted       treatment.

  - adults requesting psychotherapy

  - adolescents (ages 13-17) with substance use problems ONLY

** Dr. Kwon does NOT see any other  child and adolescents.**

Do you offer virtual appointments?

Yes.  We use Cisco WebEx platform for telepsychiatry services.  Please contact us to inquire about virtual appointments.

How do I get a prescription refilled or renewed?

Medication issues are best addressed at an in-person appointment with the psychiatrist.  Therefore the majority of refills will be filled at the time of the appointment.

** CAREFULLY READ THE MEDICATION POLICIES FORM IN THE NEW PATIENT PACKET as they will be followed strictly.**

What if my partner or spouse refuses to attend Marriage/Couples Counseling? Can I come alone?

Yes, you can definitely come alone.  This is much more common than you think.
